Job Summary
Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, or physicians, functioning as part of the interdisciplinary team. Collect and record health data, evaluate patient problems, and implement interventions while adhering to research-based practice standards. Perform and document point-of-care testing, maintain equipment, and supervise other LPNs and support personnel according to department guidelines. Advocate for patient autonomy, ensure informed consent is signed, and maintain current licensure, BLS certification, and required training. Practice within New York State-defined LPN scope of 100% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Vocational/Technical Graduation from a Licensed Practice Nurse Program
- Graduate Nurse
- Current NYS license as a Practice Nurse or valid interim permit
- BLS Certification within 6 months of hire
- Additional credentials determined by specific work unit
- Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, stooping
- Frequent hearing, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking
- Constant fit testing
- Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure
- Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis
