Job Summary
Direct patients to exam rooms, prepare them for procedures, and record vital signs, history, and medication lists. Administer prescribed injections, maintain sterile fields, and prepare surgical trays for office or operating room procedures. Assist surgeons with operative procedures, perform dressing changes, and monitor infection signs. Manage exam and procedure room supplies, order clinical materials, and ensure proper sterilization protocols. Handle insurance referrals, answer telephone calls, and perform assigned clerical duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- LPN licensed in the state of practice
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license
- Basic knowledge of medications (side effects/contraindications, etc.)
- Be able to read and review pathology results with patients
- Basic knowledge of surgical instruments
- Knowledge and proficiency of dressing changes and suture removal
- Assess signs and symptoms of infection and reporting to surgeon and/or provider
- Hepatitis checks and protocol to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse
- Proficient with autoclave sterilization process
- Must train and maintain proficiency in the use of computer equipment and other computer program training as requested
Desired Qualifications
- One-year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required
