Job Summary
Assess clinic patients, record accurate medical history, and provide care including wound care, suture removal, and intramuscular injections. Coordinate referrals to specialists and triage phone calls and patient messages in a timely manner. Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, keep them stocked, and assist the physician with office procedures while accurately documenting in EMR. Identify abnormal symptoms and communicate critical information to the physician. Earn a nursing diploma or degree, hold a Tennessee LPN license, and possess at least one year of medical office experience. Sit, stand, and lift over 20 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university
- Licensed by the State of Tennessee as an LPN
- At least one year of experience in medical office environment
- Must be competent in patient assessment
- Must be competent in taking vital signs
- Must be competent in intake of medical history
- Must be competent in confirming medications
- Must be competent in suture removal
- Must be competent in splint removal
- Must be competent in wound care
- Must be competent in use of EMR
- Must be competent in strong customer service skills
- Must be competent as a team player
- Must be competent in ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to sit
- Must be able to stand
- Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing
- Must be able to lift over 20 pounds
- Must be able to observe universal precautions
- Must be able to adhere to departmental policies related to safety, infection control, and biohazard waste
- Must be able to review upcoming appointments in advance
- Must be able to ensure test results and necessary information required for patient visit is available
- Must be able to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to attend 75% of all staff / departmental meetings
- Must be able to keep exam rooms stocked and clean
- Must be able to notify materials management when supplies are low
- Must be able to be proficient in entering billing, orders, and other relevant patient information in EMR
- Must be able to observe proper lifting technique
Desired Qualifications
- Orthopedic experience preferred, but not required
