Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides delegated nursing tasks within their Scope of Practice under supervision of RNs, physicians, or other licensed professionals in a behavioral health setting. Responsibilities include assisting with admissions/check-in, orienting patients, administering medications, preparing patients for interventions, collecting specimens, documenting and updating care plans, communicating changes in patient condition with supervising staff, participating in patient education, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. The role may mentor or train other staff as required; shift includes a hybrid of day and night hours; location is Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah; requires LPN licensure, BLS-HCP (with possible ACLS and IV certification as required by unit), and other unit-specific qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire OR obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval
- Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required if applicable to unit
- May need IV certification as required by facility
- Colorado sites: Current IV Certification or obtain IV Certification in the State of practice within three (3) months of hire
- Montana sites: Completion of in-house education and competency sign-off within three (3) months of hire
- LPNs hired into hospital departments that do not include a long-term care or behavioral health setting must be enrolled and complete their RN within 4 years
