Job Summary

Conduct physical examinations and take medical histories on plasmapheresis donors while adhering to FDA, OSHA, and CLIA guidelines. Review accumulated data to confirm donor suitability by signing SPE and RPR results and documenting acceptance or rejection. Provide confidential counseling to unacceptable donors and appropriate care during moderate to severe donor reactions. Assist with donor counseling, testing, follow-up of employee exposures, training, and vitals registration. Report unsafe situations to the supervisor and travel up to 25 miles for training or staffing support. Requires current LPN/Paramedic license, CPR/BLS certification, and ability to operate equipment in walk-in subzero freezers.

Required Qualifications

  • Current nursing (LPN)/Paramedic license in good standing for state applying for
  • Current CPR, BLS certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent, associates, bachelors degree, or above (must provide documentation)
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Legible handwriting
  • Punctual, reliable, and have reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift, pull, tug up to 50 pounds to stock supplies and/or move or support donors
  • Ability to read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documents
  • Hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices
  • Work confidently while being observed during frequent quality inspections
  • Work in walk in - Subzero freezer(s)
  • Physical ability to operate equipment used on donor floor areas that may require repetitive motion and manual dexterity
  • Ability to read while standing or sitting in front of a computer for short periods of time
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Computer (basic skills includes typing, following prompts on monitor, using mouse, saving information etc.)
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Hematastat II
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Refractometer
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Safepette
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Spot Vitals Signs monitor (Blood Pressure/Pulse & Thermometer)
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Memory Monitoring Thermometer
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Relative Humidity Monitor
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Scale
  • Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment: Stadiometer
  • Available to travel up to 25 miles to other facility(ies) for training or assisting other center's staffing needs
  • Need to have availability Monday - Friday

Desired Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy experience a plus
