Job Summary
Provide assigned nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, including preparing clinical notes, administering treatments and medications, and reporting changes in patient condition to the case manager or registered nurse. Execute physician orders and interpret diagnosis and treatment expectations for patients and families, while observing and evaluating patient reactions to drugs or treatment. Conduct weekly reviews of patient utilization and progress with the RN, supervisor, and attending physician as necessary, ensuring HIPAA guidelines are maintained and participating in in-services and discharge planning. Maintain knowledge of patient conditions at all times and communicate clearly via telephone to address spoken needs.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida
- Able to speak, read, and write in English
- Able to read assignments, follow directions
- Able to communicate and respond clearly on telephone and respond to patients spoken needs
- The ability to physically transfer, lift, or assist patients whose average weight is 160 pounds with or without the aid of mechanical devices
- Able to spend 80% of work standing and/or moving about
- Able to walk, climb stairs, stoop, twist, bend, and squat to perform essential job functions
- Able to concentrate on detail with frequent interruptions
- Able to follow, complete and remember daily routines and requirements
- Able to comprehend and utilize professional education materials
- Able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
