Job Summary
Conduct direct and indirect patient care under the direction of registered nurses, physician assistants, or physicians, including performing Point of Care testing and quality control. Collect and record patient health data, evaluate findings to identify problems, and implement documented interventions while adhering to research-based practice standards. Maintain and document testing reagents, supplies, and equipment according to established laboratory policies. Advocate for patient autonomy and dignity, ensuring informed consent is obtained for procedures. Provide proof of current BLS validation to the supervisor and complete required unit credentialing and annual training. Practice within the New York State-defined LPN scope of 100% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Practical Nursing program
- Current NYS LPN License and registration as a Practical Nurse or a valid interim permit
- BLS certification
- Practices within the New York State-defined LPN scope of practice 100% of the time
- Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional climbing, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping
- Visual acuity (color, depth, perception)
- Fit testing
- Frequent balancing
- Typing/clerical/dexterity
- Hearing
- Repetitive motion
- Seeing/monitor/computer use
- Standing
- Walking
- Occasional noise, dust, fumes, gases, mists, odors
- Occasional travel - the job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis
