Job Summary
Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, or Physician. Collect and record relevant health data, evaluate problems, and implement documented interventions while performing Point of Care testing and quality control. Maintain testing reagents, supplies, and equipment per laboratory policies. Advocate for patient autonomy, dignity, and rights, ensuring informed consent is obtained. Complete required unit credentialing, annual training, and competency validation. Adhere to New York State-defined LPN scope of practice and provide proof of current BLS certification. Practice within scope 100% of the time, acquiring current knowledge and skills as requested. Occasional travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a Practical Nursing program
- Current NYS LPN License and registration as a Practical Nurse or a valid interim permit
- BLS certification
- Practices within the New York State-defined LPN scope of practice 100% of the time
- Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs, of force constantly to move objects
- Occasional climbing, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping
- Visual acuity (color, depth, perception)
- Fit testing
- Frequent balancing
- Typing/clerical/dexterity
- Hearing
- Repetitive motion
- Seeing/monitor/computer use
- Standing
- Walking
- Occasional noise, dust, fumes, gases, mists, odors
