Job Summary
Initiate, perform, and complete assigned duties providing care to variable patient populations. Prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments while accurately recognizing, reporting, and recording relevant patient information. Observe and respond to patient needs, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education. Recognize urgent or emergent situations, seek assistance from registered nurses or physicians, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions. Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and specialized procedures, including preparing patients, handling specialized instruments, and monitoring conditions before, during, and after. Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies, skills, and standards of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate
- Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation
- Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse
