Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse at CAO of WNY, Inc. provides nursing services including the management and dispensing of controlled substance medication under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include receiving and recording medication into inventory; dispensing and reconciling medication with precise procedures and reporting discrepancies; verifying patient identity and observing behavior during medication or other medical services; recording observations in the clinical record; preparing and reviewing reports related to medication dispensing and reconciliation; assisting in identifying and scheduling patients for follow-up medical and nursing care in consultation with medical providers and monitoring lab results; assisting in physical examinations as a chaperone; performing phlebotomy, EKGs, immunizations, vital signs, and toxicology tests; participating in staff meetings, case conferences, supervisory meetings, and training; identifying opportunities to improve quality of care and patient satisfaction; completion of mandatory training; and other duties as assigned. Skills emphasized include clinical documentation, communication, report writing, teamwork, problem solving, nursing principles, patient confidentiality, and the ability to work independently or in a team, with optional Spanish language proficiency noted as desirable.
