Job Summary
Assess resident complaints, admit and transfer patients, and administer oral and injectable medications within Florida law scope. Observe for medication side effects, provide emergency psychiatric treatment, and coordinate appointments with unit staff. Prepare paperwork for consults, complete incident reports, and maintain progress notes on resident care. Advocate for residents' recovery and safety while maintaining professional behavior during interactions with staff and patients. Drive state vehicles to transport patients for outside appointments and act as a sitter during hospital stays. Complete one-week classroom orientation followed by shadowing DCF nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire
- Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must be CPR certified, or able to complete training
- Must be able to complete full orientation at time of hire
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of position including ability to lift and carry 20 lbs
- Must be able to remain alert while on duty
- Must be able to work 16-hour shifts on occasion
- Must be able to drive state vehicles transporting patients to outside facility doctor appointments and hospitals
- Must be able to be a sitter with the patient during an outside hospital stay
