Job Summary
Administer prescribed medications with 100% accuracy, manage controlled substance counts, and provide hands-on activities of daily living to residents. Supervise non-licensed nursing staff, conduct performance evaluations, and train employees in Resident Services. Ensure clear, accurate communications and maintain safe, clean environments free of hazards. Review incident reports, investigate occurrences, and support dignified care for residents, families, and visitors. Adhere to ALF regulations, HIPAA standards, and emergency protocols while responding promptly to resident and family requests.
Required Qualifications
- Valid state specific nursing license
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to two years related experience and/or training
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

- Ability to ensure medication cart is locked at all times
- Ability to obtain pertinent information and complete all required forms as established by policy and procedure
- Ability to complete and maintain the ECC and LNS logs, service plan, progress notes, monthly summaries
- Ability to follow healthcare providers orders
- Ability to assist in completing evaluations when needed for residents
- Ability to provide hands on care on an as needed basis to meet the needs of the residents
- Ability to work with the ADORS in reviewing and investigating all incidents reports and recommending appropriate action and follow up to the DORS/executive director
- Ability to maintain a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors and associates
- Ability to practice good body mechanics and safe working habits
- Ability to give associates in nursing daily feedback on his/her performance
- Ability to participate in the associates performance evaluations when request by the DORS
- Ability to ensure associates participate in activities provided to residents as described in the activities calendar
- Ability to respond promptly and courteously to resident's request for assistance including phone calls and request from family and visitors
- Ability to ensure there is a safe, clean and orderly environment for all residents
- Ability to support a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors and associates
- Ability to wear clean and appropriate dress per established policy
- Ability to be considered essential personnel especially during emergencies
- Ability to take the initiative in work, seek out additional information and offer solutions/suggestions
- Ability to willingly take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties
- Ability to accept calls from staff during nights and weekend
- Ability to meet with oncoming and departing licensed practical nurse to discuss resident's condition and any occurrences from the shift
- Ability to supervise non-licensed nursing staff
- Ability to participate in the evaluation of non-licensed staff
- Ability to demonstrate excellent decision-making skills
