Job Summary
Plan care, implement treatments, and evaluate delivery for patients admitted to the Medical Respite Center within regulatory guidelines. Assist patients with medication management, obtain prescriptions, and answer medication questions. Perform venipuncture, administer IV medications, draw blood, and prepare specimens while maintaining a clean clinical environment. Conduct wound care, SVN treatments, oxygen therapy, and ECGs as ordered, and assist providers with procedures. Maintain exam room supplies, check expiration dates, and clean tables between patients. Document accurately in electronic health records and act as a resource for Respite Assistants regarding patient medical issues. Adapt to rapid, unpredictable workflows while focusing on detailed work and interacting with difficult patients or those with mental illness. Requires extended sitting and standing, patient transfers, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
- Current Arizona license in good standing
- Certified in IV therapy
- Phlebotomy skills
- Minimum one (1) year experience in medical/surgical hospital, outpatient, home health or public health care
- Competent in basic nursing knowledge of illnesses and treatments
- Understanding of substance and mental health issues
- Computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information
- Basic Life Support certification
- Extended periods of sitting and standing
- Regular bending and reaching, including transfer of patients
- Effective Communication skills
