Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients recovering from surgeries, injuries, or medical conditions in an outpatient setting. Create detailed treatment plans based on patient assessments and establish measurable therapeutic goals. Administer various therapeutic techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and modalities to reduce pain and promote healing. Keep detailed records of treatment activities, patient progress, and outcomes to adjust care plans as necessary. Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on techniques for daily living and using assistive devices effectively. Participate in departmental meetings and case discussions to align treatment strategies across the team. Stay updated on best practices and new technologies through ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities. Work with a varied patient demographic including children, adults, and older adults with conditions such as orthopedic surgeries, sports-related injuries, neurological disorders, and chronic pain.
Required Qualifications
- A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program
- A valid state license to practice physical therapy in Virginia
- A minimum of two years of direct clinical experience in an outpatient setting
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management
- Flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing healthcare environment
