Job Summary
Licensed Occupational Therapist for a 10-month school-year assignment in Salisbury, MD. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments of fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and activities of daily living; interpreting and reporting assessment results to IEP teams; developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and staff; implementing evidence-based interventions (e.g., sensory diets, handwriting support, adaptive equipment use); delivering direct therapy to a pediatric caseload in school settings; monitoring progress and adjusting plans; collaborating with educators to integrate therapy into classroom routines; providing consultations and training to teachers, parents, and staff; maintaining accurate documentation (assessments, progress notes, service logs, treatment plans) in compliance with regulations; collecting and analyzing data to document outcomes; participating in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings; pursuing ongoing professional development; supervising paraprofessionals and COTAs as needed; performing other related duties as required; the role is subject to the 190-contract-day schedule with potential summer work to ensure year-round service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT-L) from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
- Hold or be eligible for a National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by CMS NPPES and must be actively enrolled in Maryland Medicaid
- NBCOT Certification (OT-R)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with pediatric population
- Understanding of evidence-based practice in occupational therapy
- Strong knowledge of child development, sensory processing theory, and therapeutic techniques
- Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills across all stakeholders
- Dedication to high-quality, evidence-based services to support students' success and well-being
- Thorough knowledge of the IEP process
- Ability to stay abreast of current research and best practices in occupational therapy and education
- Provide supervision and/or training of paraprofessionals and COTAs
