Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in residence with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues to ensure quality care while maintaining a secure environment. Collaborate with medical and correctional staff to enhance patient outcomes, perform mental health evaluations, document progress notes, and develop individual treatment plans. Participate in educational activities, group therapy, and hearings while monitoring compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards. This role requires active LCSW or LCMHC licensure in Alabama, three years of clinical experience, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks including patient lifting.
Required Qualifications
- Master's prepared Mental Health Professional
- active, unrestricted licensure as a (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, etc.) in AL
- active BLS CPR Certification
- American Heart Association preferred
- pass the facility's criminal background check
- pass the facility's drug screening
- minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
- correctional healthcare experience preferred
- knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
- discharge planning
- principles of social work
- basic principles of individual and group behavior
- working knowledge of psychotropic medications
- ability to remain calm under pressure
- ability to assess patients' situations
- ability to identify underlying causes of their behavior
- ability to develop interventions and treatment plans

- ability to relay information and treatment plan with other medical and mental health care professionals
