Job Summary

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in residence with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues while maintaining a safe and secure environment. Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care. Perform and document mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, and treatment plans. Participate in educational activities for patients and staff, develop educational materials, and provide group therapy. Monitor compliance with site-specific policies, ACA, and NCCHC standards. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional healthcare procedures. Requires active unrestricted licensure, BLS CPR certification, and a minimum of three years' clinical experience. Required Qualifications

  • Master's prepared Mental Health Professional
  • active, unrestricted licensure as a (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, etc.) in STATE
  • active BLS CPR Certification
  • American Heart Association preferred
  • pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
  • correctional healthcare experience preferred
  • knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • discharge planning
  • principles of social work
  • basic principles of individual and group behavior
  • working knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • ability to remain calm under pressure
  • ability to assess patients' situations
  • ability to identify underlying causes of their behavior
  • ability to develop interventions and treatment plans
  • effective communications skills
  • ability to build patient rapport
  • ability to relay information and treatment plan with other medical and mental health care professionals
