Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Full Time

Job Summary

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in residence with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and behavioral issues while collaborating with medical, mental health, and correctional staff to maintain a safe environment. Perform and document mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, and treatment plans; initiate patient education programs and group therapy. Monitor compliance with site-specific policies, ACA, and NCCHC standards, preparing reports and participating in hearings. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to correctional healthcare procedures. Requires active Florida licensure, BLS CPR certification, and minimum three years clinical experience. Full-time role in Land O Lakes, Florida.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's prepared Mental Health Professional
  • active, unrestricted licensure as a (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, etc.) in Florida
  • active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
  • correctional healthcare experience
  • knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • discharge planning
  • principles of social work
  • basic principles of individual and group behavior
  • working knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • ability to remain calm under pressure
  • ability to assess patients' situations, underlying causes of their behavior
  • ability to develop interventions and treatment plans
  • effective communications skills
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
