Job Summary

Conduct direct clinical mental health evaluations, individual, and group psychotherapy for patients experiencing acute mental health crises. Formulate and update treatment plans while coordinating care with attending physicians, community providers, and multidisciplinary teams. Manage admission assessments, daily case presentations, and discharge planning including aftercare coordination with community resources and advocacy services. Deliver psychoeducation and skills-based interventions within established group rosters and individualized therapies. Maintain timely documentation of all clinical interactions and treatment interventions. Participate in committees dedicated to improving patient care and reviewing new therapeutic techniques. Requires a Master's degree, current Vermont LCMHC license, and 3+ years of acute mental health experience. Full-time day/eve shifts with biweekly scheduling.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree minimum in a related field
  • Current State of Vermont, Clinical Mental Health Counselor License
  • Valid LCMHC license
  • Training or certification in Case Management
  • Training or certification in Group Therapy
  • Training or certification in Cognitive Therapy
  • Training or certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Training or certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
  • Training or certification in Substance Use Treatment
  • At least 3 years direct clinical experience post licensure in an acute or sub-acute mental health setting
  • Minimum 3 years' direct experience post licensure providing individual, family and group psychotherapy
  • Training in acute crisis intervention
  • Training in suicide risk assessment and symptom reduction
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders (including substance use disorder and medical complications) and multi-axial diagnostic presentations
  • Familiarity with psychotropic medications and their role in treatment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate professional flexibility
  • Able to effectively coordinate high acuity patient care with multiple providers
  • Able to provide psychoeducation and skills based psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Able to conduct daily/weekly evaluation of establish roster of group and individualized to specific patient populations within the milieu
  • Able to coordinate with the patient care team
  • Able to develop individual patient therapies
  • Able to review and develop new therapeutic processing groups and techniques
  • Able to participate in committees dedicated to improving patient care
  • Able to provide Timely and accurate documentation
  • Able to formulate the plan of care
  • Able to coordinate treatment for the patient while on inpatient psychiatry
  • Able to update treatment plan
  • Able to establish clinically appropriate post-treatment aftercare plan
  • Able to contact community providers/agencies/resources
  • Able to coordinate with volunteer services both internal and external to the organization
  • Able to coordinate with state wide advocacy services
  • Able to contact significant collateral members of the patient support network
  • Able to contribute to direct diagnosis and treatment
  • Able to conduct admission assessments
  • Able to conduct clinical evaluation of mental health disorders in conjunction with DSM and ICD 10 codes
  • Able to consult with Attending physician and other referring providers in the community
  • Able to conduct after care following discharge
  • Able to conduct daily/weekly case presentation at internal rounds
  • Able to coordinate services without patient psychiatric providers if needed
  • Able to develop and write discharge plan including all treatment interventions provided while the patient was in our care
  • Must be available for Weekend Needs: Every Other
  • Must be able to work Day/Eve-8-12Hr shifts
  • Must be able to work 36 Biweekly Scheduled Hours
  • Must be able to work Full Time Standard Hours
  • Must be able to work Shift: Day/Eve-8-12Hr
  • Must be able to work Primary Shift: - Weekend Needs: Every Other

Desired Qualifications

  • Training in a specific area: Case Management, Group Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or Substance Use Treatment
  • At least 3 years direct clinical experience post licensure in an acute or sub-acute mental health setting preferred
  • A minimum 3 years' direct experience post licensure providing individual, family and group psychotherapy preferred
  • Training in acute crisis intervention
  • Training in suicide risk assessment and symptom reduction
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders (including substance use disorder and medical complications) and multi-axial diagnostic presentations
  • Familiarity with psychotropic medications and their role in treatment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary
  • Able to demonstrate professional flexibility and effectively coordinate high acuity patient care with multiple providers
  • Provides psychoeducation and skills based psychotherapeutic interventions to individuals receiving care on Inpatient Psychiatry
  • Daily/weekly evaluation of establish roster of group and individualized to specific patient populations within the milieu
  • Coordination with the patient care team and development of individual patient therapies
  • Review and develop of new therapeutic processing groups and techniques to incorporate into existing programming
  • Outside of direct patient care, the Mental Health Clinician will participate in committees dedicated to improving patient care
  • Training and experience in CBT/DBT approach to acute mental health symptom reduction or alleviation
  • Knowledge of addictive disorders and populations
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Additional clinical certifications and skills in specific clinical specialties
