Job Summary
Fire Extinguisher Technician responsible for shop and field service, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of portable and fixed fire-extinguisher systems and related lifesaving equipment. Performs documentation for inspections and repairs, briefs customers, and supports invoicing. Must travel to customer sites, possess a valid driver’s license and insurance, and be able to obtain required certifications (e.g., TWIC, OSHA 10, NICET Level II or state licenses). Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, CFR, Coast Guard and ABS regulations, PPE usage, and respiratory protection is essential. The role includes assisting with loading and staging equipment for delivery, maintaining clean work areas, and collaborating in a team environment. Strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and adherence to regulatory standards, with opportunities to work offshore and on various fire protection systems such as gas detection, foam, dry chemical, gaseous, and water-based suppression.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery or related industry
- Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
- Safe driving record and insurability for company vehicle
- Must be willing to travel to customer sites and for offshore projects
- TWIC card ability and basic safety certifications (OSHA 10, Basic Plus)
- State Fire Licenses (if required) or NICET Level II (if licensing not required)
- Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, CFR, Coast Guard/ABS regulations (offshore)
- Proficiency with PPE and respiratory protection equipment
- Ability to operate and maintain fire safety equipment
- Team-oriented with ability to take on additional responsibilities
- Educational preference for associate or technical training (strongly preferred)
