Job Summary
Provide social work services under the direction of CBOC Primary Care Physician, Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, and VA Medical Center personnel to meet physical, mental, and emotional patient needs. Conduct initial assessments for adult and geriatric patients, participate in treatment planning, discharge planning, and referrals, and offer psychotherapeutic interventions for severe psychosocial difficulties. Deliver crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and problem-solving while serving as a liaison between families, the VAMC, and community mental health centers. Maintain accurate documentation in medical records and VISTA, ensure patient information completeness, and perform CPR and assist during cardiac arrest procedures. Function as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team to assess needs, develop strategies, and review progress.
Required Qualifications
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license in Arkansas
- Master's degree of Social Work from a college or university accredited by the Council of Social Work education
- Psychotherapy certification
- Retain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
- Required to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic, where a fast walk or job may be necessary to provide assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer one (1) year of experience in working with mental health/psychiatric patients
- Prefer 2-3 years LPMHC/LCSW experience
