Job Summary
Provide mental health services to mentally ill inmates under the direction of senior psychologists or the Chief of Mental Health. Conduct initial evaluations, suicide risk assessments, and crisis interventions including face-to-face interviews and group psychotherapy. Maintain order, supervise inmate conduct, and ensure safety of persons and property. Write clinical reports, diagnose psychiatric disorders, and develop treatment plans. Work 40 hours weekly, Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday from 7:00am-5:00pm at a correctional facility in Delano, CA. Serve as clinician-of-the-day with on-call availability for emergencies. Required Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
- Ability to work in conditions requiring on-call availability during scheduled work days for patient emergencies
- Ability to conduct initial mental health evaluations including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history
- Ability to conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations including clinical review, applying suicide risk assessment protocols, pertinent data/chart reviews, proper documentation and consultations
- Ability to meet with mentally ill patient-inmates/youths for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, face-to-face interviews
- Ability to provide clinical, face-to-face interviews at cell fronts in inmate housing units
- Ability to climb stairs and walk long distances in multi-tiered housing units
- Ability to identify the relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders
- Ability to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and manage the presenting symptoms of psychiatric disorders
- Ability to write clinical reports regarding diagnoses and prognoses
- Ability to develop treatment plans that reflect the standard of practice
