Job Summary
Conduct mental health evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling to inmates with complex mental health and substance use disorders. Manage caseloads, coordinate care with correctional staff and medical professionals, and respond to mental health crises to ensure immediate stabilization. Maintain accurate clinical records, monitor compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards, and collaborate on comprehensive reentry plans. Requires active LCSW licensure in CA, BLS CPR certification, and minimum three years of clinical experience. Full-time role in San Diego County Jails with competitive compensation and benefits including day-one health insurance and tuition assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Master's prepared degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field
- Active, unrestricted licensure as a (LCSW,) in CA
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting
- Correctional healthcare experience
- Knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
- Discharge planning
- Principles of social work
- Basic principles of individual and group behavior
- Working knowledge of psychotropic medications
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while assess patients' situations, underlying causes of their behavior and be able to develop interventions and treatment plans
- Effective communications skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct
- Compliance with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Pass the facility's criminal background check
- Pass drug screening
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like CPR
- Ability to maintain good balance and endurance throughout a shift
