Job Summary

Deliver safe, evidence-informed therapeutic massage interventions based on provider referrals and individualized treatment plans. Assess patient presentations within scope, modify techniques as clinically appropriate, and document evaluations, progress, and education accurately in the electronic health record. Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health clinicians, nursing staff, and care coordinators to support comprehensive patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with Pennsylvania regulations, infection control standards, and HIPAA. Identify changes in patient condition requiring referral to the supervising provider and maintain treatment rooms and equipment in accordance with safety protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education to maintain professional competency.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited massage therapy program approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Possess and maintain a current, unrestricted Pennsylvania Massage Therapist license
  • Possess and maintain CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical massage therapy experience providing therapeutic massage in a healthcare, outpatient medical, rehabilitation, integrative medicine, or comparable clinical setting
  • Experience working within a primary care or interdisciplinary healthcare environment, including collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health clinicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
  • Demonstrated a thorough understanding of human anatomy, physiology, musculoskeletal conditions, and the clinical application of therapeutic massage, including the ability to identify contraindications, recognize findings requiring referral to a medical provider, and deliver safe, evidence-informed care
  • Experience working with electronic health records
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed care, and the ability to function effectively as a collaborative member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Perform repetitive upper extremity movements, including sustained hand, wrist, finger, arm, and shoulder motions required to provide therapeutic massage
  • Apply varying levels of manual pressure during treatment sessions
  • Bend, reach, twist, stoop, kneel, and maintain ergonomic treatment positions
  • Assist patients with positioning and transfers on treatment tables as appropriate
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 with or without assistance
  • Demonstrate sufficient visual acuity to observe patient condition, document care, and safely perform treatments
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically
  • Operate computers, electronic health records, and standard office equipment
  • Maintain manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary to safely perform multiple treatment sessions during a scheduled workday

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working within a primary care or interdisciplinary healthcare environment, including collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health clinicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
  • Experience working with electronic health records
  • Experience using Epic
  • Bilingual proficiency, particularly in English and Spanish
  • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or community health center serving diverse and medically underserved populations
  • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or community health center serving diverse and medically underserved populations
