Job Summary
Assess crisis situations and provide active, trauma-informed intervention to adults and children experiencing emergent mental health needs. Facilitate referrals, arrange psychiatric evaluations, and coordinate hospitalization authorizations when diversion fails. Act as an advocate for client rights with service providers and community agents while assisting families in accessing resources. Support transitions to aftercare services and help implement individual recovery plans. Requires LBSW or LLBSW licensure in Michigan, valid driver's license, and minimum one year experience working with mental health and substance use populations.
Required Qualifications
- LBSW or LLBSW
- Bachelor's degree in human service field
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with people with mental health, substance use and/or developmental disabilities
- Experience working in crisis intervention or emergency mental health services
- Experience with broad range of age groups and disabilities, including children
- Experience with persons with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, crisis assessment, and intervention techniques
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in/or willing to obtain a development plan with MCBAP for the following (within 30 days of hire): CADC - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
- Meets criteria as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) defined by the State of Michigan
- Meets criteria as a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) OR Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) defined by the State of Michigan
