Job Summary

Licensed Avionics Technician responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, installation, and functional testing of all types of radio, radar, cabin management and other types of navigation systems and equipment. Fabricate, install interconnecting wiring between major units, remote controls and indicating devices, and interpret engineering drawings. Familiar with standard avionic installations, practices, materials, manuals pertaining to avionic systems and installations. May assist in removing/re-installing interior furnishings and carry out minor repairs to aircraft interior. May certify avionics installation using company-issued ACA when required. May be involved in inspection of components to meet Transport Canada/FAA/EASA airworthiness standards and may participate in apprenticeship programs. Education and licensing requirements include a relevant trade school diploma and/or apprenticeship or college degree in avionics, plus an Avionics E license (M1/M2 asset) and YYZ AVOP/RAIC certification within six months. Must be able to lift at least 32 lb and work night shifts (8 pm–6 am) on a 4x4 rotation, with relocation flexibility for candidates outside the YYZ area. Required Qualifications

  • Relevant trade school diploma and/or a suitable apprenticeship program OR College degree in Avionics or equivalent
  • 2 years of work experience leading to thorough knowledge of AC-DE electronic theory, aircraft audio systems, communication and navigation equipment, including pulse techniques, and/or auto pilot and/or flight control systems, applicable civil aviation regulations
  • Hold an Avionics "E" license is required (M1/M2 is an asset)
  • Certification: Full YYZ AVOP and RAIC obtained in first 6 months of work
  • Ability to lift at least 32 lb. overhead
  • Shift Expectations: must be comfortable with working 8 pm to 6 am shift, on a 4x4 rotation, fully autonomous and accountable
  • Location: Preference for candidates already located near YYZ. Other applicants must be willing and able to relocate prior to start of first shift.
