Job Summary
Evaluate, prepare, and process Motor Vehicle Titles, Registration Applications, Driver's Licenses, I.D. Cards, DNR Recreational Vehicle Titles, Game and Fish Licenses, and Vital Statistics records. Greet customers in person and over the telephone, answer inquiries regarding titles, registrations, licensing, births, and deaths, and verify document eligibility while monitoring for fraud. Process fees, record transactions, issue receipts, calculate sales tax, reconcile department-wide records, and balance the cash drawer. Submit daily and monthly state reports, maintain birth, marriage, and death records, and enforce data privacy with Department of Public Safety records. Work full-time onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/ GED
- Two (2) years of customer service/clerical experience
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License with proof of insurance
- Ability to read, speak, and write English clearly
- Ability to type 40-50 words per minute accurately
- Ability to learn, understand, and interpret the State of Minnesota Motor Vehicle certifications, regulations, policies, procedures, and laws
- Must become a 'Certified Title and Registration Professional' by the State of Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services Division within 12 months of starting employment
- Must obtain knowledge and certification of driver's license and I.D. card laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to maintain regular and timely work attendance
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the public, other employees, and state and federal agencies
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously in person, over the phone, and in written correspondence with all people
