Job Summary
Library Team Manager to lead Hythe and Totton Libraries within Hampshire Library Service. Responsible for shaping culture and growth, managing a team of staff and volunteers, supporting multiple libraries across the West Hampshire area, and driving community engagement. Will oversee building management, health and safety, contractor management, and staff training; contribute to countywide projects; and collaborate with local partners to enhance the role of libraries in the community. Requires proven leadership and people-management skills, strong interpersonal abilities, a customer- and community-focused approach, and the capacity to prioritise tasks, manage multiple sites, and travel across Hampshire. The role includes occasional weekend and evening work. Vetting includes Criminal Records Check; vehicle access and a valid driving licence are essential for travel between locations.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience of managing and leading a team
- Ability to motivate, support and develop staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of health and safety requirements in library or similar environment
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Willingness to travel across Hampshire (drivers licence and vehicle essential)
