Job Summary
Manage library access services including circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan while overseeing a team of student assistants during evening and weekend hours. Provide initial patron assistance for directional questions, location inquiries, and policies; deliver basic reference referrals; and handle circulation desk phone routing. Use the integrated library system to check in and out materials, assist users with technologies, and support stack maintenance. Close and secure the library on weekday evenings and weekends, preparing it for the next day's services. This part-time role supports Saint Mary's student, faculty, and staff academics during the academic year.
Required Qualifications
- 2 year post-secondary education or equivalent education or experience
- Excellent written, oral, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to excellent user-centered customer service
- Reliability and regular attendance
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse groups of people
- Ability to produce accurate and detailed work
- Ability to use basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines
- Supports, respects, and advances the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic university
- Must be able to lift no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds
- Must be able to do substantially all of the activities involved in light work (walking, standing, sitting, pushing, pulling)
- Must complete a criminal background check
- Must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution
Desired Qualifications
- At least 1 year experience in a library
- Experience in an academic setting
