Job Summary
Assist the library media specialist with instructional and non-instructional activities for students, staff, and parents. Organize and circulate the collection, troubleshoot device management, and support one-to-one computer usage. Monitor student activities, create promotional displays, and maintain accurate records including circulation logs and inventory reports. Process library materials, repair books, and perform clerical tasks such as answering phones and ordering supplies. Confers with the specialist to coordinate activities and attend in-service training. Works part-time, 16 hours per week, reporting to the Principal. Requires a high school diploma, substitute certificate, and background clearance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Substitute Certificate (required prior to start date)
- 36 college credit hours or complete the approved 20 hours Substitute Certificate course
- 10 hours Professional Development /yearly
- CPR Training
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records
- Customer service
- Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios
- Reading a variety of manuals
- Writing documents following prescribed formats
- Presenting information to others
- Understanding complex, multi-step written and oral instructions
- Library practices
- Computer and Internet operations
