Job Summary
Library Information Technology Specialist (LITS) role combines teaching-library responsibilities with information technology support across Mead School District. The teacher-librarian roles emphasize information literacy instruction, collaboration with instructional teams, collection development and district curriculum initiatives, integration of emerging technologies, and designing library spaces and resources to foster critical thinking, enthusiastic reading, and effective information use. The position supports ELA standards and district initiatives, with a focus on using digital information resources, instructional technology, and collaborative program development across buildings; responsibilities include instruction, policy/resource development, and contributing to a district-wide library program.
Required Qualifications
- Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement/s as required by law and regulation, or ability to obtain said Washington State teaching certificate.
- Library Science Endorsement preferred.
- Knowledgeable of information literacy learning standards.
- Knowledgeable of current trends in instructional technology.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead teachers and staff in the implementation of new technologies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current assessment tools.
