Job Summary
Vacuum, mop, and sanitize public areas, staff offices, and restrooms throughout the library facility. Dust furniture, clean glass surfaces, and disinfect high-touch points like door handles and light switches. Empty trash and recycling bins, replenish restroom supplies, and safely operate custodial equipment. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management immediately. Perform additional duties as assigned while maintaining a professional appearance and providing courteous service to patrons. This role requires flexibility with various shift schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must have at least six months of custodial experience and be authorized to work in the United States. Required Qualifications
- Minimum of six (6) months of custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in public facilities
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to successfully pass any required background screening in accordance with library or municipal policies
- Must be flexible with shift and days
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach while performing cleaning duties
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Safely climb step stools or ladders as needed to reach designated cleaning areas
- Work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities
- Maintain attention to detail while following established cleaning schedules and safety procedures
- Exercise sound judgment and professionalism when working around patrons, children, and staff
- Must maintain a clean, professional appearance
Desired Qualifications
