Job Summary

Library Clerk II provides front-line customer service and technical support in a public library. Responsibilities include assisting patrons with library services, circulation activities (checking materials in/out, holds, registrations, fines), helping users with computers and digital resources, basic tech troubleshooting, organizing and shelving materials, supporting library programs and events, creating promotional materials, assisting with research using catalogs/databases, handling routine clerical tasks, cash handling, and ensuring a welcoming, organized environment. The role requires strong customer service, familiarity with library management software, digital literacy, ability to troubleshoot public technology, and the ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Education includes a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred); two years of related experience; valid Florida driver’s license; and a willingness to train and supervise Library Clerk I staff, volunteers, and temporary personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two years of customer service, clerical, library, educational, technology support, or related experience
  • Knowledge of library circulation procedures, policies, and services
  • Ability to operate library management software and related office equipment
  • Cash handling and basic recordkeeping
  • Experience with assisting patrons with computers, internet applications, and digital library resources
  • Ability to lift and move up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain patron confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced public environment
  • Willingness to train and provide guidance to Library Clerk I staff, volunteers, and temporary personnel
  • Experience with planning, promoting, and supporting library programs and events
  • Familiarity with opening and closing procedures
  • Compliance with applicable laws and city policies
  • Experience with data entry and documentation
