Job Summary
Serve as the first point of service for patrons entering the building or calling for assistance, handling emergency situations and training part-time clerks. Charge and discharge library materials using an integrated system, including Interlibrary loans and RFID, while inputting and maintaining patron data. Assist patrons with fines and lost materials by processing cash, credit cards, and preparing daily deposits. Routinely load and unload bins of materials weighing up to 25 lbs, push book trucks, and process new periodicals and donated items. Weeds damaged materials, shelves collections, and reroutes items to other branches. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and emergency management activities during disasters. Perform additional duties such as ordering supplies, mending books, and maintaining database records.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Some college preferred
- Two years job related experience
- Strong computer skills
- proficient with Internet, email and Microsoft Office products
- Communication skills and the ability to work well with a diverse public and staff
- Ability to learn library software applications and shelving classifications
- Ability to interpret policy and problem-solve, and work with frequent interruptions
- Position requires evening and weekend hours
