Job Summary
Serve as the first point of service for patrons entering the building or calling the library, assisting with training and supervision of part-time clerks while acting as In-Charge staff in absence of Clerk III. Charges/discharge library materials using an integrated system, including interlibrary loans and patron holds, and maintains patron records and confidential data. Issues library cards, processes fines, and handles cash and credit card transactions. Routinely load/unload bins of materials up to 25 lbs, push book trucks, shelf books, and process new and donated deliveries. Weeds older materials, checks in periodicals, and participates in staff meetings and training sessions. Position requires evening and weekend hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Some college preferred
- Two years job related experience
- Strong computer skills
- proficient with Internet, email and Microsoft Office products
- Communication skills and the ability to work well with a diverse public and staff
- Ability to learn library software applications and shelving classifications
- Ability to interpret policy and problem-solve, and work with frequent interruptions
- Position requires evening and weekend hours
