Job Summary
Library Associate II at the Enoch Pratt Free Library oversees maker-space and program delivery in the Earl Teen Center and Adult Workshop Maker Space, leading diverse STEAM activities, family workshops, and community partnerships. The role includes developing and leading workshops and demonstrations, maintaining and troubleshooting maker equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, electronics kits, sewing machines, printmaking tools), supporting VR headsets and game design software, and guiding patrons through digital tools (DAWs, Adobe Creative Suite, Unity/Unreal Engine). Responsibilities also cover outreach to schools and nonprofits, reference services, data collection and evaluation, and ensuring safety and policy compliance while fostering inclusive learning experiences for children, teens, and adults. Strong communication, organizational skills, problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a public-facing role are essential, as is the ability to adapt to a dynamic makerspace environment and develop instructional materials for patrons with varying skill levels.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Fine Arts, or a STEM related field
- Two years of experience in an education, arts, museum, or library environment
- Experience working directly with teens in education, arts, theater, library, or a related environment
- Successful completion of the Library Associate Training Institute (LATI) within two years of hire
- Physical requirements including standing, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing loaded book trucks, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items
