Job Summary

Sort, shelf, and issue library materials while inspecting returned items for damage and processing overdue fines. Handle interlibrary loan requests, transport books from drops, and prepare new acquisitions for circulation through stamping and coding. Answer patron inquiries regarding services and facilities, assist with catalog searches, copying, and faxing, and design exhibits. Update borrower records and recommend titles for collection development. Maintain positive customer interactions and adhere to safety protocols while performing these duties.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to respond effectively to customer and/or supervisors questions
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ethical reasoning skills
  • Competent basic level of keyboarding skills
  • Willingness to attend necessary SEPLSO trainings
  • Ability to regularly talk or hear
  • Ability to frequently sit and use hand and fingers to handle or feel
  • Ability to occasionally walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Close vision
  • Ability to adjust focus

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
