Job Summary
Temporary Exempt As-Needed Librarian I provides reference and reader's advisory services to patrons of all ages, assists users with library materials and technology, leads children/teens/adult programming and storytimes, recommends titles for the collection, teaches access to digital resources, and performs cataloging and outreach duties. Responsibilities include planning displays, supervising staff as needed, and traveling to different library locations within San Francisco. Requires MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and a flexible schedule including weekends/evenings; strong customer-service and program-delivery skills; ability to work with diverse communities.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a masters of library and information science (MLS or MLIS) degree from a library school accredited by the American Library Association.

- A flexible schedule of availability including weekends and/or evenings
- Experience working with children, youth, and teens
- Excellent customer service skills
- Comfortability preparing and conducting a storytime or book talk
- Ability to travel to different Library locations within San Francisco
- Adaptable to change and willingness to assist all members of the San Francisco communities
