Job Summary
Paraprofessional Level IV at Hazel Park Junior High School providing classroom support under teacher/psychologist direction. Responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality, implementing individualized behavioral plans, and applying Crisis Prevention/CPI techniques (including restraint) for students with ASD and significant cognitive impairments. Requires communication with teachers, students, parents, and the public; flexibility for diverse assignments; 5-day work week, 7:40–3:10 schedule. Equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow an individualized Behavioral Plan under direction of teacher/psychologist
- Certified CPI training and ability to implement all stages of Crisis Prevention training including restraint, OR willingness to take training and implement procedures
- Experience working with students with ASD or knowledge of Autism
- Ability to work under the supervision of classroom teacher
- Ability to communicate professionally with teachers, pupils, parents, and the public
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors with poise
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
- Flexibility to take on varied assignments within the classroom and building
- Knowledge or training in working with students with ASD and significant cognitive impairments
