Job Summary
Set up and calibrate equipment, then conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) using appropriate techniques while interpreting, evaluating, and documenting results. Direct the work of trainees and Level I personnel, resolve problems in a timely manner, and analyze information to edit and present numerical data effectively. Work with minimal supervision in plant and shop environments around production machinery, often outdoors or in areas with extreme noise levels, while lifting 50 lbs frequently and adhering to safety protocols. Manage competing demands and adapt to changes in the work environment across multiple job sites or occasional out-of-town travel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED/Degree
- Proof of classroom hours/Training in NDT
- Previous level II certifications/OJT
- Graduate of a specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC1A for one or all of the following: UT, RT, MT or PT
- Prior certification as an NDE Level II with one (1) year experience or prior certification as an NDE Level I technician with adequate field experience hours to certify to Level II per SNT-TC1A standards on all or one (1) of the following: UT, RT, MT or PT
- Industrial Radiographers Certification Card (Required for all hired as a Radiographer)
- Completion of a forty (40) hour Radiation Safety Course (Required for all hired as a Radiographer)
- Must be physically fit and able to carry 50 lbs frequently for Radiography work
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
- Must be able to tolerate climate changes
- Must be able to travel out of town on a periodic basis
- Ability to frequently lift and carry 50 pounds
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits the employee to conduct investigations
- Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits the employee to perform routine office duties
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations
- Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and capable of directing the work of trainees and Level I personnel
- Must be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer
