Job Summary
Assist physicians, advanced practitioners, or nurses in implementing care plans for emergency and minor emergency patients by performing procedures and treatments under supervision. Complete de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire and obtain BLS certification within 90 days. Work evening shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on-site at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a Level I Adult Trauma Center. Prior clinical experience or specific certifications such as EMT-B, military hospital corps school, or enrollment in a clinical program are required for new incumbents.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire
- Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School
- Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program
- Prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years
- De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents
