Job Summary
Administer medications as prescribed under the direction of the facility Director of Nursing, documenting effectiveness and any adverse actions or side effects. Maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR/AED certification, completing required four-hour continuing education every two years. If not already certified, successfully complete internal Level 1 Medication Aide and insulin training to maintain employment. Pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable. Day shift position with pay ranging from $20 to $23 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
- Must maintain current tuberculosis documentation
- Must maintain active CPR/AED certification
- Must complete required continuing education to maintain certification (minimum of four (4) hours of medication administration training every two (2) years)
- Must successfully complete internal level one medication aide and insulin training to maintain employment beyond probationary period
Desired Qualifications
- Current active Level 1 Medication Aide certification from the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) or the Department of Mental Health (DMH)
- Insulin certification
- One year experience in acute care, emergency or correctional setting
