Job Summary
On-call delivery agent or on-call postal clerk at Canada Post. Delivery agents will be the face of Canada Post in the community, delivering mail and parcels by foot or vehicle on their route, starting from the depot where deliveries are sorted and prepared. Postal clerks work inside sorting facilities and may rotate through shifts including days, evenings, overnights and weekends; responsibilities include sorting mail, operating material handling equipment, receiving and dispatching items, scanning and sequencing, and completing reports. The role requires a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lb and carry up to 35 lb, comfort working in various weather conditions, and English and/or French language proficiency. Experience in customer service, delivery driving, and production environments is an asset. Opportunities for extensive training and potential for permanent employment are highlighted.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
- The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
- The ability to work in all types of weather
- The availability to be on-call, possibly evenings and weekends
- The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French
