Job Summary
Lead State Counsel for corporate Law’s Legislative/Regulatory Section, overseeing government relations across multiple states from Bloomington, IL. Responsibilities include monitoring and influencing legislative and regulatory activities, representing State Farm before regulators, guiding responses to examinations, and supporting rate filings and regulatory complaints. Requires a JD with bar licensure, ability to obtain IL limited license, and a minimum of 5 years in government relations, legislative drafting/advocacy, or regulatory law. Hybrid in-office/remote role with periodic travel to assigned states; Flexible hours as workload dictates.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active law license in at least one state and in good standing with the bar
- Ability to obtain a limited license to practice in Illinois if not already licensed there
- Minimum 5 years of experience in government relations, legislative drafting/advocacy, or regulatory law
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. immediately; sponsorship not available
