Job Summary
Lead state government relations for Colorado, coordinating and monitoring legislative engagement, preparing testimony and briefing materials, and advancing the university’s policy priorities during the Colorado General Assembly session. Collaborate with executive leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners to support advocacy, outreach, and communications related to governmental relations; maintain productive relationships with state legislators, staff, and officials; ensure campus-facing coordination and timely policy analysis to inform decision-making. Regular on-campus presence in Golden, Colorado to support engagement with campus and community stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, public administration, communications, or a related field
- 3 or more years of experience in legislative affairs, government relations, public policy, public relations, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated understanding of legislative and governmental processes; state government experience strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a dynamic political environment
