Job Summary
Legislative Affairs Director at AeroVironment to develop, coordinate and implement legislative affairs strategy with Congress and the U.S. Government, shape and execute congressional advocacy and engagement strategies, manage consultant lobbyist resources, and ensure compliance with lobby laws and PAC reporting; responsible for monitoring annual funding requests and budget justifications, engaging with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, and supporting growth and protection of AV programs while representing AV to aerospace, national defense and international organizations; requires extensive experience with congressional activities, regulatory requirements, and government procurement processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 12+ years experience in aerospace/national defense activities
- 5+ years experience working congressional activities
- Demonstrated understanding of the Department of Defense resource allocation process
- Demonstrated understanding of congressional oversight process
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of government proposal and program requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of international procurements
- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements for US government programs, as well as international sales
