Job Summary
Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Legal Services department, setting priorities and managing direct reports including attorneys and supervisors. Evaluate staff performance through appraisals, coaching, and professional development planning while serving as the primary liaison to the Assistant General Counsel on operations and staffing. Deliver legal counsel on complex, enterprise-level matters across energy departments, draft and negotiate major contracts and financing documents, and represent employees in legal actions, proceedings, and public hearings. Manage the annual budget, review invoices up to $200,000, and ensure compliance with federal and state statutes. Participate on the Emergency Response team when designated and support the biennial refueling outage.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- current license to practice law in the State of Washington
- ability to obtain license through WSBA Admission by Motion within 9 months
- minimum of 10 years of experience practicing law
- Previous management/leadership experience
- Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated
- Must support the biennial refueling outage
