Job Summary
Senior Legal Counsel on an in-house team supporting the Athletics organization across day-to-day legal and compliance matters including sales, marketing, promotions, broadcasting, finance, IT, international operations, stadium and baseball operations; provide timely, business-focused legal support on partnerships and revenue-generating agreements; draft and negotiate commercial, independent contractor, licensing, broadcasting, and other third-party agreements; assess and manage risk; identify and prioritize work based on urgency and sensitivity; manage litigation; draft and revise Company policies; coordinate with MLB Commissioner’s Office and outside counsel; must hold a JD with bar membership and have 4+ years of experience with a major law firm or in-house, along with strong negotiation, drafting, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school with bar membership in good standing
- Four or more years of experience with a major law firm and/or in-house legal department (in house experience preferred)
- Outstanding negotiating and writing skills, with a strong ability to draft and review legal documents, analyze complex issues, and provide practical, business-oriented solutions
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills and ability to maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- Astute, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Must be able to independently identify and prioritize projects, manage workflow, and complete projects under time constrains
