Job Summary
Draft and review legal correspondence, proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors. Prepare and collect conflict of interest checks, open new files, and maintain client files while staying organized and timely. Maintain attorneys' calendars with hearing dates, filing deadlines, and other important dates, making client and attorney appointments as necessary. Familiar with state and US Federal Court Case Management/Electronic Case File (CM/ECF)/PACER systems, including submission of electronic filings. Respond to messages and requests within 24 hours with a professional demeanor toward all clients, attorneys, staff, and vendors. Assist colleagues within the firm based on current work priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years litigation secretarial experience
- Experience maintaining paperless files
- Knowledge of service deadlines for various litigation tasks
- Familiarity of the California Code of Civil Procedure
- Must successfully pass a background and drug screen
