Job Summary
Triaging emails, organising files, and drafting correspondence for the General Counsel and wider legal and risk team. Monitor data requests and liaise on Datix system requests for SARs and RFIs, including court orders. Maintain legal compliance, data protection, and external registers while supporting the implementation of internal policies. Assist with contract administration, document filing systems, and preparing documentation for audits, board meetings, and regulatory submissions. Liaise with internal teams to gather information for data compliance matters and flag relevant regulatory updates. This role supports the charity's neurorehabilitation services across the UK. No prior legal experience is necessary, though familiarity with data requests is helpful.
Required Qualifications
- Awareness of data requirements, including GDPR, and data protection functions
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks
- Flexible, adaptable and a good team player
- Must be able to work in a hybrid setting with attendance at the head office located in Burgess Hill or a Brainkind service located in the UK
- Contract Type: Full-time; FTC for 6 months, with view to going permanent thereafter
- 35 hours per week
- All successful candidates are subject to compliance checks including 3 years of checkable references and DBS/PVG checks
Desired Qualifications
- No prior legal experience is necessary, but familiarity with working with data requests especially SARs and RFIs, including court orders, would be helpful
- Previous experience in a data, legal, compliance, or governance role
- Understanding of charity law, data protection (UK GDPR), or other regulatory frameworks
- Experience working in the not-for-profit or public sector
